3D Printing!

Topic: 3D Printing

Rick Pollack of MakerGear LLC will be with us to talk about the revolution-in-progress that is desktop manufacturing. As personal fabrication matures and becomes readily available, the ability to create new products will be less about access to capital (even with the new “crowdfunding” movement) and more about know-how.

Rick will discuss his role and MakerGear’s role in the maker movement and offer his glimpse into the distributed manufacturing world of the future. And he will have printers set up to demonstrate the technology. There are deep reservoirs of pent-up creativity and talent throughout the world, and Rick and his team are working hard to unleash them!

About the Speaker: Rick Pollack of MakeGear LLC
MakerGear LLC was founded by Rick Pollack to develop products and services for the rapidly expanding maker community with a focus on advancing digital fabrication (aka personal or desktop fabrication). MakerGear designs, engineers and manufactures desktop 3D printers and accessories. Thousands of 3D printer operators around the world are using gear from MakerGear!! Based in Beachwood, Ohio, MakerGear has been providing 3D printers and supplies to schools, engineers, artists, businesses and DIYers since 2009.

Prior to launching MakerGear, Rick was the VP of IT for Ninesigma - a leading open innovation provider. Prior to that, Rick was a principal and VP of product development at ECCS - a developer of online CRM software for the automobile industry. ECCS was acquired by Reynolds and Reynolds in 2001.
