Pressure Relief Valves
About the Topic
“Introduction to Pressure Relief Valves” will cover the basic terminology applied to pressure relief valves, the theory and operation of both spring loaded and pilot operated designs, as well as the codes & standards that govern their design, testing and installation. In addition, we will review the sizing and selection of relief valves utilizing a software-based program. Attendees should expect to receive a practical understanding of pressure relief valve’s performance and operation.
About the Speaker
Stan Zalar is the Engineering Manager with Farris Engineering, a business unit of Curtiss Wright Flow Control Company. Farris is a global supplier of pressure and safety relief valves for the process industry market. Stan earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from Cleveland State University. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Ohio.
Stan has been with Farris Engineering for over 17 years serving in a variety of technical roles including Applications Engineer, Regional Sales Manager, and Pilot Valve Product Manager before taking on his current role as the Engineering Manager. Stan’s experience with relief valves includes hands-on assembly and testing, trouble shooting relief valve failures, research & development of relief valve products, and providing instructional seminars.
Prior to joining Farris Engineering, Stan held the position of Manager of Applications Engineering at PMC Industries, now a division of Park Ohio. PMC Industries was one of the major suppliers in the world market for pipe end finishing machinery, tooling and gages for oil country tubular goods.
