The ambient air monitoring section of the Division of Air Quality (CDAQ)
operates a network of ambient air monitors throughout Cuyahoga County. The
network measures "criteria pollutants". The Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) uses six “criteria pollutants” as indicators of air quality, and has
established for each of them a maximum concentration above which adverse
effects on humans may occur.

Marvin Rogers will discuss the history of the automated monitoring station,
gasses detected, type of analyzers inside the station (pictured), how the
station operates and maintenance of the station analyzers at the office
facility. There will be a detailed Power
Point display of the inside of the station and exterior devices.
One Monitoring Site is located at
Orange Ave. & East 14th Street.
Speaker, Marvin Rogers,
Chief of Monitoring
Marvin Rogers is currently working for the City of Cleveland Department of
Public Heath, Division of Air Quality as Chief of Air Monitoring. He
is one of the three section heads. The
monitoring section is responsible for maintaining a network of ambient air
monitoring sites throughout Cuyahoga County. He
is a retired naval officer whose Navy career included numerous afloat commands
and land based operations assignments. He
is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Engineering. Marvin is a member of the
City of Cleveland Base Veterans Committee and a member of the Air and Waste
Management Association.
